At the Darrow Law firm we handle all types of DWI cases in the Houston – Galveston area, from first time drunk driving offenders to felony DWI offenses. Being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated can be embarrassing and scary. At the Darrow Law Firm we are committed to excellence in defending all of our clients charged with DWI.
For many people this is the first time they have ever been in trouble with the law, and is probably the last time they will be in trouble. As a former Galveston County prosecutor Paul Darrow handled both misdemeanor and felony DWIs. He learned how the government uses eye witness and scientific evidence against those accused of intoxication offenses. He now uses this insider knowledge to help his clients fight their cases against the State.
After being arrested you only have 15 days to request a hearing to prevent a suspension of your driver’s license. This hearing is called a Administrative License Revocation (ALR) hearing. This is a separate court case just for your driver’s license. If you do not request the hearing within 15 days you have waived the hearing and your license will be suspended. Learn more.
Just because you have been arrested for DWI or DUI in Houston does not mean you are guilty! As your attorney I will carefully review your case. There are many areas where the police may have made mistakes that mean the difference between a conviction and a dismissal or acquittal. Many times people are arrested for drunk driving when they had only had one or two drinks. Contrary to some advertising campaigns (Drink. Drive. Go to Jail.) you can drink and drive! It is only illegal to drive if alcohol or drugs have caused you to be impaired.
If you took the breath test or blood test and failed you need an experienced DWI attorney to fight these results from being admitted into evidence. Your attorney should carefully review your case to make sure that the police followed all necessary procedures. If they did not then we may be able to have the results of the breath test thrown out completely. If they are admitted into evidence we may decide to bring our own expert witnesses to explain the results and shine a different light on the evidence for the jury. A failed breath test is not a reason to just throw in the towel, it is all the more reason to hire an experienced DWI lawyer.
